When I select 'Open in Browser' for HTML files it launches VScode, not chrome. This happens with files produced from knitting rmds and pkgdown sites. Shiny apps work fine. Any ideas on how to resolve?

RStudio uses whatever application is registered on the system as the default for opening .html files here. You'll need to update your file associations -- https://askubuntu.com/questions/289337/how-can-i-change-file-association-globally might be helpful.
These easiest way I found to update the default opening behavior was to right click on any file ending with .html, selecting 'Properties' and then on the 'Open With' tab selecting a web browser as the default application.
