Search the optimal discretize of a continuous variable to predict a target

I have been trying to search the optimal agroupment of continuous variables to predict a logical target.

I have been searching all along the web and can´t find anything.

Can someone tell me wich function and how must I use it?

I think you might be asking how to bin a variable with an eye to its weight of evidence as a step towards getting a regression going, am I in the ballpark ?
