three panels layout keeps maximizing empty panel

HI

I tend to work with just two panels in Rstudio. Source on left, console on right. All the rest minimized on right below console.

This is how the left down cuadrant appears after such layout is configured:

My issue is when maximizing/minimizing source or console tab, when going back to normal state, the empyt tabset below Source keeps maximizing and taking too much space.

is there any way of getting rid of that empty tab?
