'untrusted root' error raised when reprex() is run

Hi: A student of mine using Windows just reported that reprex() is no longer working for him, and raises the following error:

"Error: callr subprocess failed: schannel: next InitializeSecurityContext
failed: SEC_E_UNTRUSTED_ROOT (0x80090325) - The certificate chain was issued
by an authority that is not trusted. Type .Last.error.trace to see where the
error occured"

He since has restarted his machine and updated RStudio and his packages, but still gets the same response. I'm not sure what could have triggered the change in behavior, but from the error, I wonder whether it's OS issue. Has anyone seen this error before?
