If you are using a 64-bit version and it is fully updated you might be able to install the latest RStudio version (which will solve the rendering engine problem) but it you are on a 32-bit system, the last RStudio version to support it was this one

Sadly, this will not support the rendering engine from the latest R versions so if you want to be able to use the viewer panel you would need to downgrade R as well (I believe you would need R < 4.0.0)
